The Academy Awards are Sunday, March 2nd and if you’re like us then you haven’t even begun to start planning.

Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered! Check out a few of our Ultimate Oscar Viewing Party ideas!

Movie Themed Party – This year’s nominees for Best Motion Picture make for some really great themed party ideas. You could grab some glow-in-the-dark stars and black tablecloths for a Gravity-themed party, or jazz it up with retro serving platters and vintage table decorations for an American Hustle-themed party. The great thing about these parties is that they’re super easy to turn into costume parties!  (12 Years A Slave is also nominated in that category, but we strongly advise you not to even think about going in that direction.)

All Gold Everything – This is the simplest Oscar viewing party idea, but it’s also the least stressful and probably the most cost-effective. Hit up your local Party City and indulge in all things gold — i.e. utensils, napkins, plates, beverage flutes, you name it! Find interesting and unique ways to incorporate gold into your party setup and you’ll be ready to entertain in no time! You can even splurge a little and grab a few of those mini-Oscar statues to set around.

Whichever you decide, you’re going to need some delicious snacks and refreshing drinks. Two of our Oscar Viewing Party must-haves are Academy Award cupcakes and Glamour Shots.

To make Academy Award cupcakes, all you need to do is make your favorite cupcakes and decorate them with little award signs. You can keep it traditional, i.e. “Best Supporting Actress,” “Best Actor,” or you can make your own superlatives for your guests. We like to have a little fun and mix ’em up.

Here’s an example:

The Glamour Shot is an adult-only beverage, but a lot of fun. It’s a blend of Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon and pure gold leaf — great for the All Gold Everything theme!

You’ll need:
• 1 oz. Baileys® Vanilla Cinnamon
• 0.5 oz. Goldschlager® Cinnamon Schnapps Edible gold flakes (Optional – found at most baking
stores)

Directions:
Rim shot glass with gold flakes.
Mix ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a shot glass.

This recipe contains no more than 0.6 fl oz. of alcohol per serving. Baileys Irish Cream. Stay Stylish. Drink Responsibly.

As with every great party, get creative and think outside the box! When all else fails, grab a friend, throw on your most stylish party attire, and find an Oscar party of someone else’s to attend — just don’t arrive empty handed!
