The upcoming “Harry Potter” stage play sequel that is set to open at the Palace Theatre in London next year has cast Noma Dumezweni, a black actress, to play the role of adult Hermione Granger.
In the films, Hermione has always been depicted by the very white Emma Watson, despite Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling never specifying the character’s skin color in the books.
As expected, people freaked out over the change.

J.K Rowling herself took to Twitter to DEFEND the casting, insisting she never specified Hermione’s skin tone and adding that she ‘loves’ black Hermione.
