Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending a launch event for Stella Artois new Cidre (yes, pronounced ‘see-dray’) beverage. Stella Artois Cidre is a delicious new cider made from hand picked apples.
Hosted at The Redbury in Hollywood, the event took place in a beautiful urban orchard setting complete with live music, food pairings, and boules.
It was the first time I’ve seen a live game of boules and let me tell you — it’s way more difficult than it looks. For those of you who don’t know, the main object of the game is to toss a series of larger metal balls down a short field towards a smaller ball (called a birdie).
The remainder of the evening was spent alternating between classic Stella Artois lager and the new Stella Artois Cidre. I’m not much of a sweet beverage drinker, but luckily the Cidre rests right on the cusp of perfect sweetness. If you’re not a huge beer fan (it’s okay ladies, I know a lot of you aren’t), the taste of red apple and peachy, apricot accents complement the subtle flavor of orange, giving the Cidre a refreshing taste with a pleasing wood finish. The taste is closer to your favorite dessert wine.
In fact, Stella Artois recommends you enjoy Cidre poured into a white wine glass and paired with a semi-hard cheese like manchego, a Waldorf salad or fresh Belgian endives.
My friend and I had a wonderful time relaxing with fresh beverages enjoying the orchard scenery. Check out a few photos from the event below!
