As we previously reported, it was announced last month that Sofia Vergara would be taking Gabrielle Union’s seat as judge on the next season of ‘America’s Got Talent’ after Gabrielle was fired for complaining about racist and sexist behavior on set.
If you recall, www.lovebscott.com exclusively broke the news that aside from Gabrielle’s hiring, nothing has changed behind the scenes following the production company’s alleged investigation and statements declaring its commitment to diversity.
Gabrielle and Sofia had a stronger link between them than just an ‘AGT’ seat — they were developing a movie together.
Sources exclusively tell www.lovebscott.com that the movie was a joint project between Sofia and Gabrielle’s production companies in which they’d both star. They were set to play mothers of gay sons preparing to get married.
Now, due to the friction caused by Sofia choosing ‘AGT’ over standing in solidarity with Gabrielle amid her firing, sources tell www.lovebscott.com that the movie has “been put on hold indefinitely.”
“[Gabrielle] loved where it was going, but she can’t see herself doing [the film] with her now,” says the source.
It’s unclear how it’ll shake out legally, but we think it’s safe to say the movie won’t be moving forward — at least with both Gabrielle and Sofia.
