Hillary Clinton went on ‘The Breakfast Club’ and mentioned that she always carries hot sauce (among other things) with her when asked by host Angela Yee.

Now, people were quick to try and accuse Hillary of ‘pandering’ and ‘trying too hard’ by making what they assume was a reference to Beyoncé’s “Formation” — but Hillary’s been talking about the hot sauce in her purse for YEARS now.

Check out this interview from 2012, where Hillary Clinton talked about hot sauce to Conde Nast Traveler.

We asked Secretary Clinton’s office what she always packs:

A small mesh bag filled with the basics: Sharpies, Advil, sunscreen. Converters to charge her BlackBerry and iPad anywhere in the world. Red pepper flakes and a mini bottle of Tabasco Sauce for adding spice to her meals.

While you’re at it, check out this interview with the Wall Street Journal — also from 2012 — where she says she keeps hot sauce on the plane:

In her Air Force plane, which stocks fruit, almonds and Tabasco sauce, which she dribbles on nearly all foods, including salads, she slept on a foldout sofa in a private cabin.

We all love “Formation,” but Hillary really does love hot sauce.
